Victoria’s Secret 2025: Evolved Angels on the Runaway
Once the symbol of unattainable beauty, Victoria’s Secret reclaims relevance in a world that celebrates difference over perfection.
After years of cancellation, criticism, and cautious reinvention, Victoria’s Secret brand finally found its footing again, now in sneakers, stilettos, and a little self-awareness. The 2025 Fashion Show, held in New York City on Oct. 15, traded its infamous fantasy bras for something far more attainable: authenticity.
More than 80 looks strutted down the podium, all shoppable on Amazon within minutes. But accessibility didn’t mean boring. CEO Hillary Super and Executive Creative Director Adam Selman steered the brand toward “fun, young, and global,” and it showed.
From pregnant model opener Jasmine Tookes redefining glamour to the first-ever lineup of professional athletes, Angel Reese and Suni Lee, the night challenged VS’s old stereotypes of femininity by combining power, sport, and sensuality.
The model lineup blended icons and newcomers: Gigi and Bella Hadid reclaimed their legendary presence side by side with trans and size-diverse models, while Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira made her VS debut. This pivot unmistakably aligned with the brand’s evolving identity.
Musical performances elevated the evening more. Missy Elliott, Karol G, Madison Beer, and TWICE turned the catwalk into a concert, weaving pop, hip-hop, and K-pop into fashion’s heartbeat.
Karol G’s performance feels especially symbolic and important when you remember that just months later, Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show, the NFL’s biggest global cultural moment. This pairing of powerful Latin artists in two major spectacles underscores more than coincidence: it signals a reshuffling of who leads style, music, and cultural narratives on the world stage, regardless of local US politics.
While this year’s show is getting positive feedback compared to the 2024 fiasco, many are still left upset. The society criticized VS and the annual fashion show for being non-inclusive and setting unattainable standards for women, causing a six-year hiatus and a rebrand. Now, part of the audience believed the show is missing past glamour and ‘needs some nostalgia’ as Stephanie Sengwe points out in her People’s opinion story.
